Freshly opened trekking area Tsum Valley is a sacred hidden valley of Nepal situated in the Manaslu region. Opened for foreigners in 2008, this restricted area is less crowded compared to other mainstream trekking destinations making this unspoiled hidden valley full of peace and tranquility. Trekking to this ancient valley starts from Arughat and takes you to picturesque villages and Gombas like Jagat, Lokpa, Chumling, Chokang Paro, Nile, Mu Gompa, Rachen Gompa, Gumba Lungdang, and Dhephyudonma Gompa. This hidden sanctuary is home to Ganesh Himal Base Camp (3774m), numerous ancient monasteries, Buddhist structures, and Tibetan culture people who have been protecting their ethnicity and culture from the exterior modern world. You can capture mesmerizing views of Ganesh Himal (7442m), Shringi Himal(7165m), Himchuli (7422m), and Buddha range during this trek. If you are lucky, you might encounter rare Himalayan Thar and Blue sheep. Pass through alpine forests, glacial rivers, waterfalls, scenic mountain ranges, and ancient villages all while exploring ancient Tibetan culture and lifestyle. Today is the first day of our trek & we'll be driving to Soti Khola from Kathmandu. During the drive, we can enjoy views of the Nepali farmland along with the mountain scenery. Starting from Kathmandu, we'll head toward Dhading Bensi then to Arughat & finally toward Soti Khola. After a total of 7-8 hours of drive, we'll reach Soti Khola & spend a night there. Overnight stay at Soti Khola.
Today, we'll begin our trek by following the path along Budhi Gandaki River through the dense forest. Moving ahead in the steep uphill, we'll reach Khursane from where the trail weaves its way up and down. After that, we'll continue our trek as we head toward Gurung village of Labubesi and follow the path along the riverbank until we reach the village of Machha Khola where we will spend the night. Overnight stay at Machha Khola.
Today, we'll trek toward Jagat from Machha Khola. We'll trek through the villages of Tatopani, Dovan, Thulo Dunga, and finally reach the village of Jagat at an elevation of 1340m. Passing through several forests, suspension bridges & continuously trekking uphill & downhill alongside the river, we'll reach Jagat village after walking for around 7-8 hours. Overnight stay at Jagat.
Today we'll be heading toward Lokpa but Before making our way to Lokpa, we will register our permits for Manaslu and Tsum valley at the entry checkpoint. Walking along the river bank crossing the Budhi Gandaki river on a long suspension bridge, the rugged trail takes us up and down through several waterfalls on a steep path. After crossing a few rice fields we'll reach Ghatta Khola. Continuing our trek, we'll make our way to a large Gurung village, Philim. Soon, we'll notice the welcome board & we head towards Lokpa. Overnight stay at Lokpa.
After having our breakfast in Lokpa, today we'll begin our trek to Chumling. Starting with a descent towards Lungwa Khola and ascending further through pines and rhododendron forest we'll reach Gumlung. On the way, depending on the weather we might be able to witness the amazing views of the Boudha Himal (6,672m) and Ganesh Himal today. Moving ahead we'll cross the Syar Khola leading us to the village of Chumling. We can visit several Gompas like; The Panago Gompa, Mani Dhungyur, and Gurwa Gompa, etc after reaching Chumling. Overnight stay at Chumling.
Today we'll make our way to Chhokangparo after having breakfast in Chumling. Chhokangparo, situated on flat land which is made up of two settlements; Chhokang and Paro open our way to the upper Tsum valley. We'll cross several suspension bridges on our way from where we can see great views of Ganesh Himal, Boudha Himal, and Himal Himalchuli. After around 4-5 hours of ascent & descent, we'll finally make it to the village of Chhokangparo. Overnight stay at Chhokangparo.
Today we'll continue our journey as we trek toward the Nile. The Nile village is on the western side and is the last village in the upper Tsum Valley. We'll pass through several villages like; Lar, Phurbe, Pangdun & Chhule on our way today. As we trek, we will also pass the Piren Phu cave, known as the pigeon cave which is one of the most sacred caves in the Tsum Valley. Walking further we'll make our way through green fields, diverse landscape & suspension bridges over Shiar Khola. Overnight stay at Nile.
Today we'll be trekking to Mu Gompa. Starting with a walk alongside the west bank of the valley through the Tibetan landscapes we'll ascend toward the Mu Gompa which is the largest monastery in the region. Today's trail takes us through several yak fields within the usual dry Himalayan Region. Overnight stay at Mu Gompa.
Shortly after having breakfast today, we will head to Rechen Gompa from Mu Gompa & then to Chhekamparo. Following the trail along the east bank of the Siyar Khola and crossing plain fields we'll reach Rachen Gompa. Rachen Gompa is one of the largest nunneries in the Tsum valley which is situated in the foothills of the mountains between the border of Nepal and Tibet. Moving further we'll continue our trek to Chhekamparo where we'll be spending the night. Overnight stay at Chhekamparo.
Today the trail takes us to Gumpa Lungdang from Chhekamparo. We'll start our trek by descending from Chhekamparo to Gho and then crossing Dumje Bridge. It takes around 6-7 hours of walking to reach Gumpa Lungdang where we can take a good rest. Overnight stay at Gumpa Lungdang.
Today is an exciting day for us as we will be trekking to the Ganesh Himal Base camp which is the highest point of this trek. We can enjoy forest wilderness and the views of several mountains on the way today. We'll pass through several dense forests, open fields, & suspension bridges. Moving forward, we climb through a steep rhododendron forest taking us to a hill with stone huts beside a large stone in Kharka. As we continue climbing up, after a couple of hours we'll reach the Ganesh Himal Base Camp. After enjoying and admiring the view from the top, we will then return to Gumba Lugdang to spend the night there. Overnight stay at Gumpa Lungdang.
Today we will be returning to Lokpa. We'll start our trek with a descent to Domje by crossing the Laudang Khola. As we walk by, we will come across a beautiful dense forest that will take us to a deep gorge and swinging bridges to Ripche. We'll walk down the stairs to the Bhatti Ghumlong to reach Lokpa. After walking for around 6-7 hours we'll reach Lokpa. Overnight stay at Lokpa.
We'll descend to Lapu Bensi today. As we trek down this is the final day for us to witness mountains along the way. Walking through forests and terrains, we'll first make our way to Jagat & then continue walking further to Lapu Bensi. Trekking down to Machha Khola we will cross a suspension bridge over the Nauli Khola. After around 7-8 hours of trek, we'll reach Lapu Bensi. Overnight stay at Lapu Bensi.
Today, we'll be trekking back to Arughat which was the starting point of our trek. Starting our trek, we will follow the Budhi Gandaki river leading us to Soti Khola. From Soti Khola we can take a jeep to Arughat Bazar. After a few hours of driving, we'll reach the Arughat Bazaar. We can explore the shops & cafes in the Arughat bazar for the rest of the day. Overnight stay at Arughat.
Today, we'll be driving back to Kathmandu from Arughat. The drive will be picturesque as we pass by the beautiful Trishuli river. Also, we can get a view of greenery hills & diverse landscapes during our drive back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, you'll be escorted to your hotel where you can take a good rest for the rest of the day or shop souvenirs in the markets of Kathmandu. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
