Phulchowki is one of the famous highest hilltop destinations situated in the southern part of Kathmandu valley at an altitude of 2782m. Phulchowki hill is one of the highest hills of Kathmandu valley and has an exceptionally serene environment and surroundings which is perfect for a short hike in peaceful nature. Situated close to the beautiful botanical garden of Godavari, this beautiful hilltop offers magnificent views of green terrain along with distant views of shiny peaks like Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Jugal Himal, Gaurishankar and even Mt. Everest on a clear day. Phulchowki hiking journey begins with a short drive up to Godavari followed by a gradual few hour uphill ascents to reach Phulchowki through a peaceful well-managed trail. The trails to reach Phulchowki hilltop are covered by a scenic green forest full of rhododendron, magnolia, oaks, pine, temples, stupas and typical hilly region villages. Phulchowki hiking is also extremely famous during winter season snowfall sessions and the views are immaculate but it may bring inconvenience. Our journey towards Phulchowki hill starts with an early morning ride of about an hour to a beautiful town 14 kilometers southeast of Kathmandu valley named Godavari. Godavari Botanical Garden located in Godavari is a nationwide famous spot as a center of plant conservation, education, research and recreation. Before commencing our hike, we stop by this famous botanical garden and explore the varieties of floras conserved and preserved for a long time. After spending some time in this interesting garden and gathering the required information, we start our hike to Phulchowki. Trails to the top of the hill are easy and comfortable with required navigation boards all over the way. We’ll walk for a few hours in a dense forest of rhododendron, pine and other wildflowers before finally reaching the top. On our way, we can enjoy the view of green terrace fields, vast kinds of flora and fauna and small villages along with the sound of birds chirping freely. Upon finally reaching Phulchowki hill, we get to enjoy the precious views of the distant Himalayas like Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Jugal Himal, Gaurishankar and even Mt. Everest on a clear day. We spend some quiet and peaceful time on the hilltop admiring the magnificent views, creating lifelong memories and exploring the surrounding environment. Then we slowly descend from the highest hill point of Kathmandu valley while looking back at the breathtaking panorama of 360-degree wide-angle views of Himalayan peaks. Once we reach the roadways, we hop on our private vehicle waiting for us to ride back to Kathmandu valley. After the completion of the Phulchowki hike, we drop you at your hotel where you can rest and relax. Phulchoki hill which has the literal meaning of “hill full of flowers” is without a doubt a peaceful and magical spot to lose yourself in nature and its beauty somewhere near the busy Kathmandu valley.
