Khopra Danda Trek is a newly opened trek in the Annapurna region which is a relatively less crowded and off beaten trail reaching the maximum elevation of 3660m which is Khopra Danda itself. This off beaten track adventure will take you to local authentic villages, terraced farmland, bamboo, rhododendron and oak forest, waterfall and give you stunning views of majestic Himalayas. You will pass through picturesque Gurung, Magar, Chhetri and Brahmin community villages like Ghandruk, Tadapani, Dobato, Chistibung, Ghorepani, Tikhedhunga, Ulleri and Tatopani according to the trail you follow as there can be more than one starting and ending point of this trek. As you walk through this beautiful and peaceful trail, you will get plenty of chances to view eye catching sites of Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Machhapuchhre (6993m) and Nilgiri (7061m). Try to participate and indulge in the traditional lifestyle and culture of Nepali people as the villages are mostly community based. After you reach Khopra Danda, a challenging hike to Kaire Lake (4665m) is recommended as it is considered a sacred lake by Hindus and is believed to help you attain Nirvana.

We start our trek to Khora Danda after our breakfast at the hotel. We drive towards the city of lakes and mountains, Pokhara which is a comfortable and pleasing 6-7 hour drive. Throughout the drive, we get fascinating views of the countryside including stunning panoramic views of Himalayan ranges, paddy fields, green terraces and rivers following us. After arriving at Pokhara, we have a free evening ahead of us. Spend your time exploring Pokhara and relaxing. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.
Optional: You can choose to take a 30 min flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara instead of a drive.
Our second day starts with a delicious breakfast at Pokhara hotel followed by a drive to Nayapul from where our real trekking adventure begins. We walk through the rhododendron forest, rice fields, rivers and ascend slowly upward towards Tikhedhunga. We pass villages like Birethanti and Hile today which are absolutely beautiful and scenic. Overnight stay at a lodge in Tikhedhunga.
We start our third day after breakfast at Tikhedhunga and march towards Ghorepani which is a beautiful ethnic village settlement. Today’s walk is a little more demanding and strenuous then yesterday’s as it is more steep and has many staircases along the way. But the splendid views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli and Banthanti lead our way with enthusiasm. We pass through green vegetation and beautiful villages like Nangethanti and Banthanti to reach Ghorepani. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Ghorepani.
Today is our fourth day of trekking as we’ll hike up to Poon hill early in the morning from Ghorepani with the hope of catching panoramic sunrise views on Himalayan ranges. After capturing some majestic view of the Himalayas, we’ll get back to Ghorepani to have our breakfast & start our trek toward Swanta. We will be descending through the beautiful mixed forest of rhododendron, oak, and pine. Following the downhill path for around 3-4 hrs, crossing several small rivers & bridges, we’ll reach Swanta where we’ll be spending the night. Overnight stay at Swanta.
We'll start our journey today after having breakfast early in the morning. Passing through dense forests of rhododendron & small Gurung settlements on the way, we head toward a village named Chistibung. We descend through the forest and cross a wooden bridge above small rivers before moving uphill to reach Chistibung. Overnight stay at Chistibung.
Leaving Chistibung behind, today we continue our trek as we moved ahead toward Khopra Danda which offers a marvelous panorama of Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri range, Nilgiri (7061m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), and other several mountains. There is a chance we may encounter some wild animals today as we ascend steadily to reach Khopra Ridge. Finally, we reach Kopra Danda which is situated at an elevation of 3,660 m which is also a well-known sunrise & sunset viewpoint over the mountains. Overnight stay at Khopra Danda.
Today is the day for a journey to the beautiful Khayer Lake (4,600m), which takes almost 6-7 hours of a long day hike. Khayer Lake is also a religious pilgrimage site for Hindus where people visit during the festival that occurs on Janai Purnima (July or August). We'll be exploring Khayer lake & the surrounding for a whole day today. Overnight stay at Khopra Danda.
Today we'll be descending to Bayeli leaving the main pathway. We start the trek with an uphill walk through the scattered forest & open grassland. On the way, we can catch a glimpse of the view of mountains from east to west like; Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, the Annapurna massif, and Machhapuchhre, etc. After walking for a few hours we'll reach Bayeli. Overnight stay at Bayeli.
We continue our descent as we walk downhill into the forest of rhododendron & oaks to reach the main trekking route at Tadapani. We can get amazing views of the Annapurna range as we descend through dense forests & grasslands. Overnight stay at Tadapani.
We'll start our trek today early in the morning after having our breakfast. It is going to be a long day as we also have a 1 and half hour ride to Pokhara after a long walk to Nayapul. This is the final day of our trekking. Passing through several forests & Gurung villages on the way, we can get a glimpse of the Annapurna Himal range on the way to Nayapul. After reaching Nayapul, we'll head toward Pokhara where we can spend a comfortable night. Overnight stay at Pokhara.
After having breakfast at our hotel in Pokhara, we drive back to Kathmandu valley which normally takes around 6-7 hours but the way is scenic enough to make you forget about the long distance. After arriving in Kathmandu, you are free to explore the surroundings and environment in the evening. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
