Kakani is a popular viewpoint and hiking spot of Nepal that is situated 26km Northeast of Kathmandu in the Nuwakot district. A perfect place to have a short escape from the hustle-bustle of city life, Kakani day hike gives you an opportunity to encounter panoramic Langtang and Ganesh himal mountain ranges along with diverse vegetation. The hike starts from Kakani bus park on foot after a short drive from Kathmandu. You pass through several pine forests, flowing rivers and also may come across local people working on farms & rice terrain fields on the way to the top of Kakani hill. The major highlight of the hike is a national treasure, Thai Memorial Parkthat commemorates the death of 113 people due to the Thai airline crash in 1992 AD. You can also experience and Learn the culture and lifestyle of local people residing around the area during this hike. Early in the morning you'll be picked up in a private vehicle from your hotel. After the pick-up we'll have a short 1 hr drive to Kakani Bus park from where our real hike on foot begins. We begin our walk on a diverse landscape and pass through several pine forests, rhododendron forests, lush green vegetation, farms and small settlements along the way. It takes us around 2-3 hours to reach the top of Kakani valley where we can visit the Thai memorial park that is dedicated to the 113 people who lost their lives during the Thai airline crash in 1992 AD. We can get panoramic views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal range along with several lush green hills surrounding the valley from the top. After an excursion around the area and conversing with some locals, we'll descend to Kakani bus park and take the same way back to Kathmandu. You'll be dropped off at your hotel after our arrival in Kathmandu.
Optional: We can also extend the hike to 2 days if you want and make our way to Shivapuri National park on the second day as we hike down.
