Sikles Kapuche Lake Trek is a trek that takes you on a journey to the world’s lowest glacial lake Kapuche, situated at an elevation of 2546 m. This emerging trekking route in the North-East of Kaski is a newly explored trail loved by many trekkers. Starting with a ride from Pokhara to Sikles, a small Gurung village above Madi Khola (river), regarded as one of the highlights of this trek where you can learn & explore the Gurung culture at its best. A relaxed short trek, this trek takes you through several terraced fields, rhododendron forests, giant waterfalls & diverse landscapes. You get a majestic view of Mt. Annapurna (7937m), Mt. Annapurna IV (7529m), Mt. Lamjung (6993m), etc on your way and you may also witness a live avalanche from Mt. Annapurna while you are in Kapuche Lake. Trekking to this beautiful village offers you an opportunity to witness the unique traditional culture and exceptional views of the snow-capped mountains above the pristine greenish-blue lake at the lowest elevation.

We start our 7 days trek to Sikles Kapuche Lake by driving towards the city of lakes and mountains, Pokhara early in the morning. It is a comfortable and scenic 6-7 hour drive along with the fascinating views of countryside including stunning panoramic views of Himalayan ranges, paddy fields, green terraces and rivers following us. After arriving at Pokhara, we have a free evening ahead of us. Spend your time exploring Pokhara and relaxing. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.
Optional: You can choose to take a 30 min flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
Today we drive towards Sikles after spending a relaxing morning in Pokhara. The distance between Pokhara to Sikles is approximately 40 km so it is nearly a 4 hours ride. We pass through beautiful villages like Taprang, Chipli Gaun, and Khilang before reaching Sikles. Sikles is a beautiful Gurung community village and has amazing hospitality. There are a number of guesthouses and homestays in Sikles which have been preserving Gurung tradition and culture for a long time. You can spend the evening exploring the Gurung village and monastery in Sikles. Overnight stay at a homestay in Sikles.
Today after our Lunch in Sikles, we hike towards our today’s destination Hugu Village which is also known as Goth Ghar. There are no settlements between Sikles and Hugu village trail. It is a nearly 6 hours trail for us but on the way we can enjoy captivating views of Annapurna II, Annapurna IV and Lamjung Himal. We also see a 65 meters waterfall called Yedi on today’s trail so overall we walk through a picturesque and scenic route to reach Hugu with a little stairs and ascend from time to time. Overnight stay at a lodge in Hugu.
Today after our breakfast, we pack our lunch and hike towards Kapuche Lake early in the morning. It is a 2-3 hours hike from Hugu to Sikles and the path is easy and short compared to yesterday. Once we reach the lake, we get to enjoy the reflection of Annapurna and Lamjung Himal on a crystal clear blue-green Kapuche lake. We enjoy our time taking pictures and roaming around the lake and have our packed lunch on the edge of the lake while admiring the view. After spending quality time, we hike back towards Hugu Village. Overnight stay at a lodge in Hugu village.
Today after our breakfast, we return back to Sikles from Hugu. We’ll be walking through the same trail from where we came up. Returning to Sikles is much easier, comfortable and we even reach fast. Today we walk for nearly 6 hours and arrive at Sikles in the evening. We spend some time roaming and strolling in the village and get rest. Overnight stay at a homestay in Sikles.
After our delicious breakfast at Sikles, we drive back to Pokhara which is a 4 hours drive. We go back through the same way by looking at the natural sceneries, village settlements and local people and reach Pokhara in no time. Once we reach Pokhara, you are free to stroll around and spend your time relaxing and enjoying the city. Visit the pubs, restaurants, clubs and souvenir shops at Lakeside and make memories. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.
Today after our breakfast at Pokhara hotel, we head back to the capital city, Kathmandu. It is a 7-8 hours drive depending upon the traffic conditions. Take a look outside your window and enjoy the view of colorful villages, scenic landscapes and local bazaars before arriving at Kathmandu. Enjoy the evening in Kathmandu by strolling and visiting the nearby areas as your wish and make memories and relax. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Optional: You can choose to fly to Kathmandu instead of a drive. It is a 30 min flight from Pokhara.
