We’ll start our trek with an early morning flight to Tenzing Hillary Airport, Lukla on a small aircraft which takes around 30 min. During the flight we can get the panoramic view of several Himalayan ranges. After landing, we’ll start our trek from Lukla towards Phakding. We follow the trail alongside the Dudhkoshi river & pass through village Ghat before reaching Phakding. Overnight stay in phakding.
We’ll be starting our trek early in the morning to Namche Bazaar which is known to be the gateway to Everest. Today’s trail follows the bank of the Dudh Koshi river, pine forest & we cross monju before approaching the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. We then ascend upward & cross the high Tenzing-Hillary Suspension bridge from where we get the very first glimpse of Everest. Continuing our trek, we ascend through pine forests that lead us to a town named Namche bazaar which is the biggest & most popular town in the Everest region. We stay overnight in Namche Bazaar.
This is a day to get much-needed rest & get acclimatized to the altitude as we’ll be trekking to a higher altitude in the coming days. Today, we’ll visit the Everest View Hotel which is the Hotel situated in the HIghest altitude in World. You can have breakfast or just tea here while enjoying the view of Everest along with several other mountains. We also get to explore Namche bazaar which has every facility you need like; cafes, restaurants, ATMs & colorful markets, etc. Another attraction you can visit today is the Sherpa museum to learn about Sherpa culture & the history of mountaineering. This will be our second night in Namche Bazaar.
Today, we ascend towards Tengboche which is at an elevation of 3860m. We’ll cross several suspension bridges & rhododendron forests on the way & also have the first glimpse of Mount Ama Dablam, Mount Thamserku & Mount Lhotse, etc. Before reaching Tengboche where we’ll be spending the night, we visit a famous Buddhist monastery known to be the biggest monastery in the Everest region. Overnight stay in Tengboche.
We start our trek today after having breakfast & following the trail through the rhododendron forest. We then cross a bridge over the imja river & follow the upper trail to Pangboche village. Passing through fields surrounded by stone walls protecting various crops like; barley, buckwheat & potatoes, we finally reach our destination of the day, Dingboche. Overnight stay in Dingboche.
To avoid the long walk the next day, we trek to Chhukhung today which is a relatively shorter trek than other days. Trekking alongside the imja valley river, passing by stone wall fields & rocky landscapes, walking up & down through the trails while getting a 360-degree view of nearby mountains, we reach Chhukhung which is a small Sherpa settlement. Overnight stay at Chukhung.
Today is the second acclimatization day of our trek. To adjust our body to the altitude, we'll be hiking up to Chhukung Ri (5540m) which offers some astonishing views of Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Island Peak (6189m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6812m), Mt. Makalu (8481m), and many other peaks. Overnight stay at Chukhung.
Today is the day when we cross our first pass, Kongma La (5535m)which is the highest pass among the three passes. After having breakfast, we start by climbing over a hill, northwest of Chhukung from where we pass by some steep uphills. We can see icy lakes & Khumbu glaciers on our way before we reach the top of the pass, from where we can enjoy magnificent views of several mountains as well as the valleys of the Khumbu region. It takes us around 4 hrs to reach Kongma la pass & 2-3 hrs to get down. We walk on the rugged trail filled with moraines of Khumbu Glacier as we head towards our second destination of the day, Lobuche. Finally, after a long walk of 7-8 hrs, we’ll reach Lobuche. Overnight stay at Lobuche.
After having our breakfast in Lobuche, we start our trek to reach Gorakshep. A pleasant walk towards Gorakshep where we can encounter the mesmerizing view of snow-capped peaks and glaciers. Passing by some rugged up & down hills while admiring the majestic peaks on the way, we reach Gorak Shep. We then continue our trek to Everest Base Camp after checking in the lodge at Gorak Shep & taking a short rest. At the Base Camp, we can witness spectacular views of mountains like Nuptse (7861m), Khumbutse (6665m), Pumori (7165m), and other surrounding peaks along with the Khumbu Icefall. We will spend some time at the base camp to relish the beauty of all the Himalayas surrounding us & trek back to Gorak Shep to spend the night there. Overnight stay at Gorak Shep.
We start our trek toward Kalapatthar early in the morning today so that we don't miss the sunrise from the top of Kala Patthar. Witnessing the breathtaking sight of the valleys & the first rays of sun embracing Mt. Everest (8848 m) is not something to be missed. After spending some time on the top, we return to Gorak Shep and walk forward to reach Dzongla. On the way, we can see the soaring heights of Ama Dablam and Kangtega-Thamserku along with the beautiful view of the Pheriche village down the valley. After a few hours of ascending & descending, we arrive in Dzongla. Overnight stay at Dzong La.
Today might be one of the toughest days of our trek as we will be soaring across the second pass, Cho La (5420m), to reach a small valley, Thangnak. From the top of the pass, marvelous views of Mt. Cho Oyu (8188m), Mt. Everest (8848 m), Mt. Lhotse (8414m), Mt. Chola (6089m), Mt. Makalu (8481m) and several other peaks can be seen. After Cho La Pass we head towards Thangnak, a settlement with a small community. After walking for around 6-7 hours we reach Thangnak & take a rest there for the night. Overnight stay at Thangnak.
We head toward a popular destination in the Everest region, Gokyo village today. On the way today we can get some outstanding views of Himalayan ranges along with a turquoise blue glacial lake known as Gokyo Lake. The walk today is easy and slow as the distance from Thangnak to Gokyo is not very long. After walking for around 3-5 hours we’ll reach the Gokyo village & spend the night there. Overnight stay at Gokyo Village.
This is our third rest day of the trek where we climb the Gokyo Ri (5360m) which is around a 2-3 hrs hike to the top. We can enjoy incredible views of the Gokyo valley, Gokyo lakes, and the Himalayas like; mountain Cho-Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu, etc surrounding the lake from the top. After taking some time to rejoice the exceptional tranquil beauty of Gokyo Ri, we will trek back to Gokyo village and spend the night there. Overnight stay at Gokyo.
Today, we will begin the trek early in the morning to cross the third and the last high pass out of the three, Renjo La (5360m). We will walk down to the remote northern valley from Gokyo valley heading to Renjo la Pass which can be physically demanding. Ascending slowly to a snow-filled trail, we reach the top of Renjo La Pass from where we can get majestic views of Mt. Cho Oyu (8188m), Mt. Everest (8848 m), and the Rolwaling Himal range. Moving forward following the rugged trails, we now reach a small village, Lunden. Overnight stay at Lunden.
After having breakfast at Lunden, today we will descend to Namche Bazaar. Getting down, we get to see some alluring views of snow-peaked mountains. Soon after walking for 3-4 hrs, we reach Thame, a small village with few lodges and striking mountain views like Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Katenga, Mt. Kusum Kanguru, etc. Following the plane trail descending through dense rugged forests, we continue our trek towards Namche Bazaar. There are several facilities from cafes to ATMs available in Namche Bazaar you can enjoy as the walk today is mostly downhill & less demanding. Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.
Today will be the last day of our trek as we descend our way from Namche Bazaar to Lukla. Crossing several small villages, lush green forests, and rivers over the suspension bridge, we reach Lukla. We will rest & explore the markets in Lukla for the remaining day. Overnight stay at Lukla.
We will fly back to Kathmandu early in the morning today from the mountain town of Lukla. We will witness enchanting snow-capped mountains and lush green hills for one last time during the flight to Kathmandu which is for 40 minutes. You can either rest or take a stroll around the city for the remaining day today. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.
