Kathmandu being the capital city of Nepal has a lot to offer to its visitors. In this Kathmandu full-day sightseeing tour, you’ll visit some of the most famous cultural places inside the valley. Suitable for the people who want to explore the city in a limited time, this day tour takes you to four UNESCO World heritage sites located inside the valley. You’ll visit a sacred Hindu pilgrimage, Pashupatinath temple, two sacred Buddhist pilgrimages; Boudhanath stupa & Swayambhunath Stupa & finally the treasure of Kathmandu, Kathmandu Durbar Square during this one-day sightseeing tour.
The first site you’ll visit during this tour is the Pashupatinath temple located 5 km east of Central Kathmandu valley. It is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva where you can visit several other temples like; Bhairavnath Temple, Vasuki Nag, Parvati temple, Ram Mandir, Guhyeshwari temple & Kirateshwar, etc. You can witness Sadhus smudged in ashes & dressed in lion clothes, monkeys strolling around freely & Hindu Brahmins sitting to give tika & blessing to visitors in Pashupatinath temple premises. You can also see the crematorium for Hindus where hundreds of bodies are cremated every day.
Bouddhanath Stupa, one of the holy places for Buddhists around the world, is said to have been created just after the passing of the Buddha and is 36 meters high. You can visit restaurants, cafes & adventure clubs that have been recently opened around the area, making it a cool place to hang out for tourists as well as locals. You also get to observe the mixed combination of Nepali locals and Tibetan people in the Boudhanath area.
Swayambhunath Stupa, located at the top of the hill 4 km west of central Kathmandu is another holiest stupa for Buddhist people. Mostly known as Monkey Temple amongst tourists because of the large number of monkeys found around the area, Swayambhunath Stupa offers some remarkable monuments like VajraDhatu Mandala, Harati Temple, Pancha Buddhas (5 Buddhas), Anantapur & Pratappura to its visitors. A total of 360 steps lead to the top of Swayambhunath Stupa from where one can witness the splendid view of Kathmandu Valley.
Kathmandu Durbar Square, a place that represents Nepali art & architecture to its fullest, also known as Hanumandhoka or Basantapur by locals lies in the heart of Kathmandu Valley. The monuments & historical buildings in the area were constructed from the time of King Ratna Malla (1484 AD-1520 AD) to King Prithvi Bir Bikram Shah (1875 AD-1911 AD). Your one-day sightseeing begins after our private vehicle picks you up from your hotel. The first visit of the day is Pashupatinath temple which is one of the holiest places for Hindus all over the World. We’ll visit all the temples around the Pashupatinath area & stroll around as we notice Sadhus, Brahmins & prayers doing their respective duties. After Pashupatinath, our second stop is Boudhanath stupa. Boudhanath stupa is said to be the largest stupa in Asia which is a very significant place for all Buddhists around the world. Influenced by Tibetan culture, we can find a lot of Tibetan restaurants, hotels, shops & houses around the area. Our third destination is Swayambhunath stupa which is also known as monkey temple situated at the top of the hill. We can get the view of the whole city from the top & a big white stupa with Buddha’s eyes & eyebrows painted at the top of it can be seen. There are several other small stupas & pagodas on this site that we can visit. After enjoying the peaceful environment in Swayambhunath stupa, we’ll head to the last stop of the day Kathmandu Durbar Square situated at the heart of the city inside the valley. There are several temples & stupas on this site that are rich in art & architecture to which you cannot help but be amazed. Hanumandhoka, Kumari Ghar, Shiva Parvati temple, Kasthamandap, Kal Bhairav, etc are some of the temples of Kathmandu Durbar square. After visiting all four places & exploring the city you'll be dropped back to your hotel in our private vehicle.
