Muktinath, literally meaning ‘Place of Salvation’, a temple of pagoda style situated at the foot of mountains is a sacred place for both Hindu & Buddhist religions. Situated at an altitude of 3800 m, Muktinath is said to be 105 among the available 108 Divya Desam which are considered sacred by the Sri Vaishnava sect. Legends say, lord Vishnu got salvation from the curse of Brinda in this place which is why one must visit Muktinath once in their lifetime to attain salvation. Hindus call this temple Mukti Kshetra (Place of Salvation) while Buddhists call it Chumming Gyatsa (Hundred Waters) with both religions having their own belief about the temple. A human-sized golden statue of Lord Vishnu as Shri Mukti Narayan, bronze images of Bhoodevi (the earth goddess form of Lakshmi), the goddess Saraswati, goddess Sita, Luv Kush (Sons of Ram & Sita) & Sapta rishis can be seen in & around the temple. You can also see 2 holy MuktiKund (pond) situated in the front of the temple & 108 MuktiDhara (tap) in the backyard of the temple. This is the first day of our Muktinath tour & we’ll be driving to Pokhara from Kathmandu. It’ll take 7-8 hrs of drive to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu. We’ll pass through several rivers, lush green hills & small settlements on the way during our drive. Upon arriving in Pokhara, we’ll check-in at a hotel & relax for a few hours. Later in the evening, we can go for a walk around the lakeside and enjoy boating in Phewa lake while witnessing the breathtaking views of the Annapurna & Dhaulagiri range. Overnight stay at Pokhara.
Today after our breakfast at Pokhara hotel, we will drive towards Jomsom, the headquarters of the Mustang district. It is a long but scenic drive from Pokhara to Jomsom filled with spectacular views of mountain ranges and changing landscapes all along our way. After arriving at Jomsom, we will roam around and spend our time relaxing. Overnight stay at Jomsom.
Our day today will start with an early morning drive towards the Muktinath temple, the famous religious site of Hindus. Upon arriving at the temple premises, we’ll tour around the temple, offer our prayers & perform pooja in this holy site. We can also dip in two Mukti Kund (ponds) & take a bath in 108 mukti dharas (tap) which is believed to free us from all our sins & provide us salvation. After offering prayers & touring around the temple, we’ll drive back to Pokhara & spend the night there. Overnight stay at Pokhara.
Today we’ll have our breakfast early in the morning & drive to Sarangkot which is a popular viewpoint from where we’ll get to see outstanding views of Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) & Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,993 m) along with several small mountains. After that we'll visit some of the famous places like Phewa Lake, Gupteshwor gufa, etc according to your wish. In the evening time, visit popular restaurants & pubs, try some adventure activities, stroll around the city, or just relax, it’s all up to you. Overnight stay at Pokhara.
After having our breakfast in Pokhara, today we’ll drive back to Kathmandu that takes around 6-7 hours. We’ll pass through several rivers, forests, hills & small settlements on our way. We’ll visit the Manakamana temple on our way back today which is a sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati, an incarnation of Parvati. It is located around 94 kilometers west of Pokhara. After visiting the temple, we’ll continue our drive to Kathmandu. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.
