The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, situated in the southwest of the Tibetan region of China-Nagri, is one of the most renowned pilgrimage tours for Hindu devotees worldwide. This tour takes you on a journey to Mount Kailash, the holiest mountain in the universe which is believed and worshipped by enormous pilgrims from all over the world, situated at an elevation of 6,656m, and Lake Mansarovar, the high altitude freshwater lake at an altitude of 4,590m. Believed to have its significance to several religions like; Hindu, Buddhist & Jains. According to ancient mythology, this peak is the very place where lord shiva along with his wife Goddess Parvati used to reside in a state of meditation. From the viewpoint of Jains, this is the place where the first Jain Tirthankara attained Nirvana. And in Buddhism, it is believed that the Buddha representing supreme joy resides in Mt. Kailash. Considered to be the ultimate yatra due to both the difficulty of reaching it and the level of holiness connected to it, this tour offers mesmerizing views of diverse natural landscapes & Himalayan ranges like; Mt. Kailash, Mt. Everest, Mt. Cho Oyu, etc along with other major sacred sites like; Jokhang temple, holy Manasarovar lake, Kailash kora, etc. Take a holy bath on the Mansarovar lake that is believed to remove all the sins, sorrows from your past and present life & cleanse your soul during this spiritual tour.
There are three ways to complete this tour from Nepal i.e. by Overland tour from Kerung, Kailash Mansarovar tour via Lhasa, and Helicopter tour from Kathmandu. For us, we’ll begin the tour with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi.

This is the first day of our Kailash Mansarovar tour & today we’ll drive to Syabrubesi from Kathmandu. It takes us around 6-7 hrs to reach Syabrubesi from Kathmandu which lies in the Rasuwa district. We’ll pass through diverse landscapes, lush hills, several rivers & small villages on the way during the drive. Overnight stay at Syabrubesi.
After our breakfast in Syabrubesi, we’ll drive to Kerung County, which takes around 4-5 hrs. First, we’ll stop at Rasuwagadhi which takes 45 min from Syabrubesi then complete all the immigration & custom formalities in Nepal & Tibet side. From Rasuwagadhi we’ll continue to drive further to Kerung county which takes another 3 hrs. Overnight stay at Kerung.
After having our breakfast in Kerung early in the morning, we’ll drive to Saga. The drive takes around approximately 6-7 hrs to reach Saga from Kerung. Upon arriving in Saga, we’ll spend the night there. Overnight stay at Saga.
We’ll have our breakfast in Saga early in the morning & continue our drive today as well. Today we’ll drive to Mansarovar Lake, a holy lake situated at an altitude of 4590m. We’ll pass through several small Tibetan villages & other beautiful places on our way to Mansarovar lake. Upon arriving at Mansarovar Lake, we’ll rest at the guesthouse at the shore of the lake. Overnight stay at Mansarovar lake.
Today is a very special day for us as we’ll perform Puja (prayer ritual) at Manasarovar Lake. It is a day full of spiritual activities as we’ll take a dip in the holy Mansarovar lake & offer our prayers. After completing the pooja & having our lunch at Mansarovar lake, we’ll head toward Darchen. We’ll reach Darchen after 2-3 hrs of driving. Overnight stay at Darchen.
This is the first day of Kailash Parikrama. Today, we’ll start our journey after having breakfast early in the morning. After having long rides for several days, today we’ll have to walk continuously for about 6 to 7 hours. We’ll trek to Dirapuk from Darchen & visit the North face of Mt. Kailash, touching its feet (Charan Sparsh) on our way. All our goods & equipment will be carried by yaks today. Overnight stay at Dirapuk.
Today is a tough day for us as it is our second Kailash Parikrama day & we’ll have to walk for almost 7-8 hrs. We’ll begin our trek after having our breakfast in Dirapuk & Trek to Dolma La Pass (5600m). After Dolma La Pass, we’ll continue our walk to Zuthulphuk. We’ll also come across Gaurikund on our way to Zuthulphuk. All our goods & equipment will be carried by yaks today as well. Overnight stay at Zuthulphuk.
We’ll begin the trek today after having our breakfast in Zuthulphuk. After a short trek of around 2 hours, we’ll reach the point from where we will drive back to Mansarovar Lake. It’ll take us 5-6 hrs to reach Mansarovar lake. Overnight stay at Mansarovar Lake.
Today is the day we’ll drive back to Saga from Mansarovar Lake. After having our breakfast early in the morning, we’ll begin our drive to Saga which takes around 6-7 hrs. Overnight stay at Saga.
We’ll continue our drive back to Kerung from Saga today. We’ll drive back the same route we took at the beginning of the journey. After having our breakfast, we’ll begin the drive to Kerung which takes around 6-7 hrs. Overnight stay at Kerung.
We’ll finally drive back to Kathmandu today. After having our breakfast in Kerung, we’ll start our drive to Kathmandu which takes around 8-9 hrs approximately. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel after arriving in Kathmandu where you can take a good long rest. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.
